The Simlak Muslim Welfare Society supports education, healthcare and welfare for the community of Simlak, Gujarat — funded entirely by members and donors here in the UK.
A charity rooted in one village
The Simlak Muslim Welfare Society was established by the Darlaston community to support Simlak village in Navsari district, Gujarat, India. Every year, members' contributions fund grants to schools for equipment, computers and science-lab supplies, meals for children, medical aid for the ill and those unable to afford treatment, and support for widows and their families.
Our work is delivered through two long-standing local partners: the Simlak Education Board, which oversees secular education from age 4 to Grade 12, and Simlak Anjuman, which looks after social welfare, health and safety in the village.
We are currently completing the transfer of the Society to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), giving our work a stronger legal and governance footing for the years ahead.

Three programmes, funded year-round by UK membership fees and appeals.
Education
Bursaries for uniforms, books and stationery so no child is turned away, plus grants for classroom equipment, computers and science-lab supplies. Further-education bursaries help students pursue medical and other professional training.
Welfare & health
Food, clothing, medicine and blankets for widows, orphans and families in need, plus healthcare support for chronic illness, emergency treatment and maternity care through Simlak Anjuman.
Ramadan & community
Food packages distributed to every household in Simlak during Ramadan and Iftaar meals for families, alongside road, footpath and infrastructure repairs that keep the village safe.
Two new classrooms, completed
Growing demand for places at the Simlak Muslim Education Institute meant the former staff room and meeting room needed to become two additional classrooms — with a new staff room and meeting room built above the existing block to replace them.
The project is now complete, adding much-needed capacity at one of the top-performing schools in the district.
